4th of July!

Truckee’s 4th of July parade is a true local’s favorite. The old fashioned parade is complete with the Wells Fargo stagecoach, hometown floats, marching bands and equestrian groups. Truckee’s July 4th parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District parking lot at the west end of town, and progresses 1-1/2 miles down Donner Pass Road into historic Truckee, ending around noon.

truckee parade

This year’s parade theme, #TruckeeMoments, was nominated by Jason Spruitt of California 89, incorporates the popular social media movement. Truckee moments – we all have them – a day paddle boarding on Donner Lake, hiking or biking your favorite trail, a gorgeous sunrise or sunset, your dog playing in the river, or celebrating the 4th of July in Truckee! The moments are endless and we are asking parade attendees and participants to share your love of Truckee and take pictures along the parade route, post them through social media, and tag them with #TruckeeMoments!

The Truckee Fourth of July Fireworks is scheduled for July 4 at West End Beach at Donner Lake at dusk. Tickets are $6 per person (in advance only) available through the Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District – you must be a Truckee resident or attend with friends.

Tough Mudder

Great ready to put your physical limits to the test! Tough Mudder is this weekend at Northstar at California. Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 10-12 mile (18-20 km) obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit. Tough Mudder puts camaraderie over finisher rankings and is not a timed race but a team challenge that allows participants to experience exhilarating, yet safe, world-class obstacles they won’t find anywhere else.

Registration and additional event details can be found on the Tough Mudder website by clicking here.

Tough Mudder

Event Overview

Tough Mudder Tahoe is the challenge you have been waiting for. With Northstar as their backdrop – our course design team and Mother Nature team up to create a course that will test everything you have got and then some. Remember, its not a race, which means you have more time to soak up the sun and the air of camaraderie and ambition as you wind your way up this majestic mountain.

Create a team of friends, family and co-workers or run solo and let all of Mudder Nation be your team. As Tough Mudder is a team-centric event focused on camaraderie over course time, most Mudders choose to recruit a team to make event day more fun and help them through the obstacles. You can form a team before or after you register. Click here to learn how to create and manage your team.

Redefine team building by getting out of the conference room and into the mud with Tough Mudder Corporate Team Packages. If you’re looking to bond your team in the most unconventionally awesome way possible, running a Tough Mudder as a team is a surefire way to do it.

Support Tough Mudder official charity partner, Wounded Warrior Project, and help raise money for wounded veterans. In 2014, Mudders raised over $2 million for official Tough Mudder charities.

Tough Mudder ain’t just for adults anymore. This year, every course in the US, UK and Ireland will feature a Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder obstacle course, a one-mile kid-friendly obstacle course for children aged 7 to 12 and 42 inches tall and over.

Mini Mudder gives children a chance to test their fitness and team-building skills just like a real Tough Mudder. On course, kids will shimmy their way through Secret Agent Squeeze, trounce through Tunnel of Terror and try to stay in their shoes at Gooey Shoes. Once they conquer all the obstacles, they’ll earn a Mini Mudder headband to wear with pride, just like the real thing.

Children who meet the height and age requirements may participate with the purchase of a Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder Spectator ticket. The ticket will also grant access to the additional amenities in the Mini Mudder Village. And oh, yes: Don’t forget their sneakers and a change of clothes.

Get out and enjoy the great weather in store for this weekend and enjoy a great event at a great Resort. Squaw – Alpine connect

Wow big news coming out of Squaw/Alpine this week, a base to base gondola is no longer just a dream! Announced earlier this week Squaw is planning on connecting both mountains through the legendary White Wolf terrain.

Throughout the history of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, it has been a common dream of the resort owners and guests alike to freely ski between the two mountains.

Connecting Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows by gondola will enhance the skiing experience at Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows, providing easy, uninterrupted access to the unique and varied terrain of both these mountains for beginners and experts alike, all with a single lift ticket or pass. The gondola will eliminate the 15-minute drive currently required to get from one mountain to the other, in turn reducing vehicle traffic.

In addition, the gondola will further Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows’ position as a leading destination resort in North America.

The proposed route for the gondola is between the Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows base areas, passing up and over KT-22 through the land known as White Wolf. The exact locations will be determined in the planning phase of the project.

All of us here at The Sharp Team are really excited about this news! Hope to see you on the slopes for the final weekend at Squaw Valley. The season might have been a little less than what we expect, but at least we have much to look forward to! The Sharp Team is a leader in resort real estate.
